Day 1 : BUCHAREST – BRAN/MOECIU

Greeted at the airport. Departure to Prahova Valley, known as ‘The Royale Way’ in order to arrive at the foot of the Carpathians, to the village of Bran, famous for its castle, but also for the beauty of its landscapes. Evening in Bran at a B&B, accommodation for 2 nights.

Day 2: BRAN – BRASOV – BRAN/MOECIU

Visit to the village of Bran/Moeciu, Castle Bran, known as the Castle of Count Dracula, Peleş Castle in Sinaia, and the old centre of Braşov with the Counsel House and the Black Church. Return to the B&B.

Day 3: BRAN – SIBIU - SIBIEL

Departure to Sibiu, European capital of Culture in 2007. Visit of the high city with the Large and Small Square, the Bridge of Lies and after visit to the beautiful and vast Village Museum of Dumbravă. In the afternoon route to Sibiel, 20 km away from Sibiu. Dinner and accommodation at Reghina who will show you Glass Painted Icons made by her. You will also be able to visit the Glass Painted Icons collection from the village’s Ethnographic Museum.

Day 4: SIBIEL – SIGHIșOARA – MARAMUREș

Route to Maramureş across Transylvanian Saxon villages to the fortified churches, veritable citadels of the age. Stop at Biertan to visit the fortified church protected by UNESCO. Arrival at Sighişoara to visit the medieval village equally protected by UNESCO. Continue to the north passing Târgu Mureş, typical Transylvanian city with Austro-Hungarian architecture and visit the New Palace of Culture. Finally, arrival to the heart of Maramureş, one of the richest regions in folklore and traditions in Europe. Dinner and accommodation at Vadu Izei or similar.

Day 5: SIGHETU MARMATIEI – BUCOVINA

In the morning, east route through the Iza Valley, to admire the villages with sculpted gates and the Wood-Carved Churches of Rozavlea, Bogdan Vodă and Ieud. Passage through the Prislop Pass and arrival in a region rich in history, Bucovina, famous for its monasteries with painted exteriors, monuments belonging to the UNESCO heritage site. Dinner and accommodation at Vama or similar, where you will see how traditional Easter eggs are painted.

Day 6: CAMPULUNG MOLDOVENESC

Visit the painted monasteries of Bucovina: Moldovita and Sucevita with constitute a good approach to monastic life as these monasteries are still in activity. Visit to the Monastery of Humor and finally, Voronet, the most beautiful and famous from the Bucovina Monasteries, known as the ‘Sistine Chapel of the Orient’. Return to the B&B, dinner and night.

Day 7: CAMPULUNG MOLDOVENESC – TRANSYLVANIA

After breakfast journey through the impressive Bicaz Gorge. Visit ‘Red Lake’ resort and the lake with the same name, with its surface filled with petrified tree trunks. Arrival at the village of decedents of the Hungarian colonies in Transylvania. Dinner and night at Zetea village or similar. If you arrive in time you will have the opportunity to learn how to make bread.

Day 8: ZETEA – SFANTU GHEORGHE – BUCHAREST

Continue down to the south to Miercurea Ciuc to visit Şumuleu Ciuc Monastery, where the statue of the Virgin Mary it is said to be miraculous. Pass through the village of Prejmer to visit its fortress classified as part of the UNESCO Heritage Site. Return to Bucharest for a city tour. Accommodation at a 3* hotel close to the airport. Farewell dinner in a typical restaurant.

Day 9: BUCHAREST

Breakfast and transfer to the airport.
